I started working with leather to create the kinds of items I wanted for myself. My work is shaped by the practical ingenuity of my Métis ancestors and the rugged beauty of Canada’s backcountry. Every design begins with purpose: built to be functional, durable, and naturally beautiful. I also like to have some fun, and using pop culture ideas or references results in some cool projects.
I believe in honest materials, careful work, and timeless design. My leather goods are built with the same principles my ancestors lived by: make it useful, make it durable, and make it well.
True craftsmanship takes time, and every mark of the hand reminds us that human skill was involved here.
It’s just me: Mike, the sole owner and craftsman behind Sage & Tobacco Leather.
When you reach out for a custom piece, I’m with you every step of the way - from choosing materials to final stitching - to make sure you receive something you’ll love and use for years.
While custom commissions are the heart of my work, I also offer a small selection of ready-to-ship pieces. Think of that section like a tattoo flash wall — once it’s gone, it’s gone, and some stay. These designs can also serve as inspiration for a commission you’d like to have made.
